Manufacturing of violins

This instrument is made "from scratch", this is how I usually make violins, for example for a competition. However, I also make an "old" adjustment, with a patina. I make the shade as desired. It always depends for whom and whether someone already has their own idea.

It's a shame that manufacturers are pressured to produce "by design". It is clear to me and you that in addition to sound, violins also have an artistic quality. In the middle of the last century, Stradivari and Guarneri violins were taken as the ideal. Since then, they have been taken as a model, and when a manufacturer wants to succeed in competitions and establish itself in the world, this design is the standard. Deviations are not tolerated. The surface of the violin is also a victim on the altar of commercial success. Often it is no longer an expensive clear varnish, but an artificial patina

Our producers are not respected in Europe. Italian brands have the best name. However, there are few original Italian producers today. Many brands are Italian only to the eye - there are Japanese, Russians, Chinese, Romanians, and others who have married into the country...

I don't go to competitions, I do my own thing. On my violin after 5-6 years, I can see that its color is changing beautifully. At the same time, the clear varnish acts as a magnifying glass, which highlights the fine drawing of the wood structure. – pic the finished neck

This violin has a one-piece bottom plate. It is extremely high-quality 25-year-old wood from the Low Tatras, maple and spruce. I made the instrument anew with a fine patina. The price was 2200 EUR

I have plenty of quality old material in stock. There is a lot to choose from. Stop by my place. More about wood here...
